Tony Gist
A creative
Let me start by saying … I’m not really that into myself. I just figured it was time I finally had a portfolio site. Also, ‘Tony Gist’ was taken, and instead of coming up with something kinda limiting like, ‘Photography by Tony Gist’ or something really long like, ‘Creative Works by Tony Gist’ or even something clever like ‘The Gist of It’ (That’s actually taken now … I really should have kept that domain from like a million years ago when I blogged), I went with ‘The Tony Gist.’ It felt clever at the time, but now I find myself explaining to anyone I give my email to that I’m not that into myself because for some reason I can’t just own it. Anyway …
I’m a seasoned creative with over 20 years of experience bringing ideas to life through video, photography, and creative direction. I focus on blending cinematic visuals with strategic thinking, everything should be done with a purpose. That method has guided me through a career of turning concepts into compelling content that connects with audiences and drives results.
My journey began in television news, where I cut my teeth as a news videographer. In fast-paced, real-world environments, I learned to think on my feet, capturing authentic moments as they unfolded, telling powerful stories under tight deadlines. That foundation not only sharpened my technical skills but also instilled a deep respect for storytelling, timing, and emotion, principles that continue to influence my work today.
As a Creative Lead, I guide teams of videographers and creatives, developing full-scale campaigns that extend beyond video into digital, social, and web. My hands-on approach spans every stage of production, from concept development and scripting to directing, shooting, editing, animation and even voiceover.
My work is rooted in both technical expertise and a deep passion for storytelling. Whether capturing authentic moments behind the lens or crafting high-impact commercial content, I focus on creating visuals that feel real, engaging, and purposeful.
Beyond my commercial work, I’m also the creator of Coldbrewed Creative, a passion-driven photography project built on the idea that creativity should be accessible, community-focused, and fueled by connection (and good coffee).
At my core, I believe every frame should tell a story, and every story should leave an impression.
